Senggigi, Lombok, Jan 5 2013: The Santosa, the 4-star resort hotel in Senggigi rang in the new year of 2013 with a bang with their second “I Ain’t Your Sister Party.” This special celebration came alive with the help of two International DJs, an Illusionist show, New Year countdown festivities and a fireworks show.
Choky L. Tobing, Food & Beverage Manager of the Santosa reported, “Our party concept is actually quite simple; great music, great food, great prizes and a great crowd. We planned and prepared everything elaborately and thoroughly from the small personalized details like custom party favors (complimentary hats & noise makers) and fully staffed cash bars and bartenders, to the lighting, bubble and fog effects, expanded fireworks show and the Chef’s selection of gourmet hors d’oervres.”
This special celebration was aimed at increasing business and tourism, attracting new visitors, and ultimately giving a boost to the local economy. It was also intended as an instrument for Lombok tourism development to enhance the awareness, appeal and profitability of Lombok as a tourism destination.

For some, the message of hope and blessings was felt early on as the winners of the grand door prizes were announced after midnight: 2 round-trip tickets between Lombok and Hong Kong from Garuda Indonesia Hong Kong; 1 round-trip ticket between Lombok and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from Garuda Indonesia Lombok; 2 Blackberry mobile phones from XL Axiata and 8 vouchers to stay at The Santosa’s deluxe cottages, deluxe suites garden and pool. Other sponsors, such as Lombok Unique, Club Arena International Spa, AISL, DSM Dive Center and Netral Mineral water also collaborated with the Santosa in providing additional lucky draw prizes.
Sindo TV (Channel 38 UHF) & Lombok TV (Channel22 UHF) which have given their unwavering support for “I Ain’t Your Sister V.2,” broadcast the festivities and celebrations as they aired the I Ain’t You Sister V.2 Party report. Thus, many people from the local community who had not gotten the chance to come and celebrate with The Santosa had the opportunity to watch it from the comfort of home.
Manerly Salvatore, Public Relations & Marketing of The Santosa further explained ”The only note to self for next year’s celebration is to have a more balanced marketing approach. Many people didn’t realize that they didn’t have to attend one of the gala dinner packages or even be overnight guests to celebrate New Year with us. We definitely need to do a better job of conveying the message to the general public for next year’s celebration.”
She continued, “The event planning will get rolling a lot sooner this year for the next version of the “I Ain’t Your Sister” party and it will definitely be more elaborate and grandiose. We believe that the event itself has the potential to become a hallmark event, which would positively affect patterns of tourism in Lombok. After all, the capacity of a particular event to achieve tourism promotional objectives for Senggigi depends on its’ uniqueness, status, ability to attract attention and ultimately, on how successfully it is promoted and marketed. We’ve learnt a lot from the past two events and you know what they say, ‘the third time’s the charm.’”
